What Is Poetry?
A young boy playing on a street
Kicked a Gaelic football
Towards a local wall
Hoping to see it bouncing back.
But the ball clashed with a cat
In an impact which appeared
To be as strong as a hurler
Hitting a ball with his bat.
Resulting in the ball bursting
Alongside a series of roars
Yes, an incident which I recall
From the pages of my life.
And what is it about?
A mere reference to an incident
Or an element of contemplation?
Yes, what is it all about?
