in the hollow of my chest
a forest stirs

and life goes on

within you

where the rivers of my mother's
hands once flowed

and without you

the trees still whisper
secrets to the wind

About this poem

In this poem, I've tried to capture the idea that all life is connected by exploring the ways in which the speaker's own life is intertwined with the natural world and the people around them.
