Unloved
Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)
Some many grew up to become adults.
Feeling unloved.
Or not enough of it to get.
To say they have had too much of this.
Yet strange as it is,
God has blessed...
Them, us and others.
With talents and gifts,
To explore and adventure...
A loving to find a happiness.
Loving what we do to discover,
Feeling eventually blessed.
Forgiving ourselves first to realize,
Love we expect to receive from others...
May not be fortunate to know,
From where those blessings come to flow.
And the sharing of true love,
Is bestowed to never go to show it shown.
Without expecting to get but give.
Which is much more satisfying.
Than looking for it to identify our wishes.
'How can anyone love,
Without knowing the meaning of it to feel?
If...
You have the answer to that question!'
'Well...
In my opinion from my own experience.
Discovering what it is one loves to do.
Delivers more of a benefit,
Than blaming to accuse others,
For acceptance and approval.
When they themselves,
Can not identify what love is.
Or remain satisfied.
Without taking for granted blessings.
Given to them.
Yet quick to ignore the value of life to live!'
'That's too complex and philosophical.'
'Today,
I have to agree with you.
However...
Too many are heard to hear it said,
A wish to want for someone special.
And a basic life to live it.
Without impressions to make.
That within hours fade away.
Whatever love there was disappears.
And...
Is that love?
Or a repeated experiment to experience?'
'How am I to know,
Which way the wind blows.
All I know...
One night stands to explore,
Become just as boring to do.
As is marrying for love.
For the thrill of it.
Done to do hoping,
Without thought to give.
Can be a permanent mistake made.'
'So you speak from experience?'
'Well...
I'll just say,
Happiness to have it.
Doesn't necessarily have to be habitual.'
'Meaning...
What?'
'I'm just saying.
Since my own experiences,
Has limited me...
To nightmares and relief to be free.
Awakening to remember,
Living single and happily!'
'Comeon...
Loving someone else is not that bad.'
'What's love got to do with it?
I'm talking about marriage.
Once that vow is made,
Freedom is kicked out the door!'
