my true self

                            Someday

Dark thoughts invading my brain

I want sunshine not rain

I think of things I'm grateful for

but still the sadness is in my core

I cannot weep

I cannot cry

My very soul just wants to die

I've lived this way too many years

I am completely devoid of tears

My thoughts, my hopes have turned to fears

My laughter now is only jeers

Still I find I reach for the rainbow

I reach for the sun and bask in its glow

I tell myself some day this will end

My true self will emerge and again be my friend

About this poem

I was thinking about the life I presently have and the life I envisioned for myself and still hope for. this poem came out of that
