Today
We shared
cigarettes,
we shared
coffee cups.
A strange collision of
lips and butts -
proof forever
that our skin
once had touched,
(three times in fact;
once for each smoke,
and once for the drink -
an equal balance of
caffeine,
nicotine, and
seratonine.
Perfect, I think.)
once had shown,
once had been near
to the “closeness”
that Latin reveals.
Cubitum eamus.
But just a touch.
I want to be close to you all the time.
I want to hold you so tight l
that I lose the use of my fingers
and sight;
that I have to remember
to pause for breath
before I pass out from the
closeness and strength.
Today, with 7 people present,
I can safely say that
no-one else than you and I was there.
I heard no other voices.
I smelled no other scents.
I saw no other faces.
I touched no other flesh.
This time I spend with you is ghostly,
and imbued with
SOMETHING OTHER,
something old,
something new…
Never blue.
A borrowing of something slightly hidden
by the sense that
“what is you”
cannot be viewed.
Not yet, at any rate -
but one day
you will see me, and I will see you.
Until our tomorrows then.
Sudie, mano meile.
Thank you for today.
