I Built a Wall

When I was young, I learned to build
A wall though I was never skilled
At making something strong enough
To keep away the things too tough
So, I would then rebuild.

I hid my dreams and every fear
Behind the wall when life came near;
All that I never could control
That seemed to touch my very soul
And knew that I was here!

All things of life that came to call,
Tried very hard to scale my wall
Or go around the many bricks
I found inside my bag of tricks.
A few of them did fall!

The wall is very tall and wide
With so much of my life to hide
Not due to something wrong with me,
But what I don't want all to see,
Perhaps because of pride.
