NOT ALONE

Barry Green Jr 1973 (Florida)

NOT ALONE

I stood among the smoke and rubble
Of my broken walls and pride's debris
Oh imagine the pain I'd never be troubled
If I'd listened when You first called to me

Stubborn man, going my own way
Foolish lamb, lost in the hills
If only I had bowed to pray
Instead of battling Your will

But I know that's the way it is
Man rises to try to place
Our will in the stead of His
In our attempt to replace

So the glass towers of pride shatter
And we fall before His throne
And our arrogance no longer matter
When we Face You all alone

So I stood, knowing my un worth
I have no excuse for my pride
Im well aware of the lowness of my birth
Before Your gaze I just couldn't hide

But the Good Shepherd found me
 Lifted me from pride's remains
Cleansed me and set me free
His righteousness my heart retains

Now I stand as a child of the King
Boldly before His Throne
I am forgiven everything
Because I am not alone
AMEN

About this poem

For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8 38-29
