In Another Life

Maybe in another life.
Maybe if the stars had aligned just right,
I would be yours and you would be mine
But no galaxy or universe could mend my heart.
No needle could sow my broken hemming
And no poem can show my pain,
However I will write until my hands cramp.
I will show you how badly I wanted it to be in this life
But it won't matter.
It won’t change the way I feel for you or the way you feel for me,
Nor will it change how it just wasn’t meant to be
Yet I’ll still be here.
Hoping on some shooting star that it won’t be in another life,
That it’ll be this life that I will fall into those beautiful eyes.
I will always be here, waiting for some miracle.
Waiting for you to see the you that I see,
Even if you never see me,
All I ever wanted was for you to be happy
And yet I find myself crying on my bedroom floor,
Wishing that it was this life, and not the next.
