Lonely House

The house whispers in the night
sharing stories of when you lived here
Nothing ever feels quite right
There’s no cigars or beers
Gentle arms cant hold me tight
      Every day, I cry

Screech owls caw in the moon’s glow
Limbs rake across the glass
I dream of your breath, soft and low
while the hours move slowly passed
And I reach for your old pillow
      But you’ll never know

I dream - oh i dream of you
Your tender essence flows back
And your lips, how they soothed
when my nightmares attacked
Now the whole world is blue
      In my solitude

I draw your face into the ceiling
with eyes of artistic schenes
And paint you with ivory wings
wishing you’d fly back to me
You can’t leave me in a dream
       Its mine to dream

In the morning; comes honey bees
where milk thistle trims the meadow
A hint of cologne swims in the breeze
Your voice; a mystic chello
I know you’ll never set me free
      My heart silently bellows

The sun moves behind the clouds
as you draw back into these walls
Tonight the memories will sing aloud
screaming as twilight falls
If I were you, I’d be so proud
      I'm trapped in your walls
