Old bird

Old bird 1964 (Cincinnati)

All the birds had flown and the old bird was left alone
The memories of the past was all that remained
Way too old to make the trip this one last time
His fate was all but certain but he didn’t mind
As the days got shorter and the nights colder
The memories of the past was all that remained
He wondered did his life even matter
Would anyone even shed a tear
He started to sing softly and then louder
If this was his final song, let it be heard
The last tune of a old dying bird and yet
There was no one to hear or even to see it
He sung and sung until his voice got weaker
His eyes grew dimmer and with his last quiver
The memories of the past was all that remained
