I’m more than a color.

spoKenkya 2007 (Georgia)

I live in a world where stereotypes flourish,
And people rather judge instead of nourish,
I stand tall, unbroken and unbothered because
I refuse to selfish people become a problem,
They don’t define who I am,
Nor what I can,
Do just for the simple fact my skin doesn’t match,
I have a soul with dreams waiting to unfold but
they want my skin to hold me back, that’s the untold
truth about stereotypes, they want it to wipe
away my dreams and passions,
make me feel unworthy and less than,
I shouldn’t be defined by my skin,
I have a soul just like everyone else within,
Im stereotyped but im more than a color,
They put me in the category “other”,
But I have so much more to uncover,
Im stereotyped, but if you got to know me,
Im just like my mother,
Smart, Kind, Lover,
Im stereotyped because I have my own culture,
I deserve love not torture.
