IN THE MUSEUM OF MY HEART
Gladwin Pat-Enike 1992 (Fugar)
IN THE MUSEUM OF MY HEART
I bleed the morning with my eyes,
For the fate of the hope that slept.
Oh that time can walk into forever,
To bring back to me my friend.
Stories, poems, songs of fairy worlds, tales
Settled on the sea of my heart,
With you to share as I stand by thee to nurse.
My promise to you I brought in tears
As with candles came I to meet thy absence.
Maryam,
Thy face is as the glow of a truly bright day.
Thy smiles;
The merry charm of an endless love song.
Thy fragrance;
The sweet incence of an evening peace oblation.
Thy grace;
The countenance of a celestial morn'.
Thy cherry heart;
The sweet sweet trill of fairy lovers toast.
I have only one question for you in four tunes.
How did you set too soon oh sun before its crown?
Why did you come as evening tide at noon?
How did you let forever steal you from time?
How did the sun set at dawn?
If I, like the wind could sweep away the clouds,
Drive backward the sun from setting,
Turn the hour to night,
Sing the world to sleep
Then I'll make this news only a dream!
You were;
As awesome as a golden brook!
As pleasant as the autumn colors and breeze!
As lovely as the Rose's face in wine!
As warm as the a perfect hug!
As cheerful as the songbirds!
As beautiful as the Afrikaan goddess!
As sweet as the dates and royal red grape!
I still have in _the museum of my heart,_ the smiles you gave me on our first meet in the ICU on 1st 09, 2020.
My tears can't wash away its print.
You were the face of each day in the unit.
I will you every day and forever.
Adieu my hearty friend,
Maryam Y. I.
About this poem
IN THE MUSEUM OF MY HEART was a poem I wrote to moan my patient who I lost in the ICU. Although I have witnessed several deaths being an Intensive Care Nurse, she was a very personable woman with hope lighted eyes. Her death was uniquely painful among many.
