I Am Not A Poet
I AM NOT A POET
I am not a poet
But I have feelings too
I cry at the sad things
And laugh when I'm happy too.
I don't know fancy words
Or metaphors to use
But I know how to express
My thoughts and feelings true.
Sometimes I stumble
And my words come out wrong
But it doesn't diminish
The emotions that I long.
I may not know how to rhyme
Or create a perfect verse
But I will express myself
In words that are sincere and diverse.
I may not use fancy metaphor
Or paint a picture with words
But I will try my best to express
The emotions that my heart has incurred.
My words may not flow like a river
Or dance like the leaves on a tree
But they come straight from my heart
And that's all that means something to me.
So I may not be a poet
But I will still write nonetheless
For my words are my own
And they come from the heart, nothing less.
