To my demon

Jazmin Smith 2005 (Charlotte North Carolina)

To my demon,
you have had a hold of me for years.
You made me not be able to move.
You made me lose some of the people I thought were my friends.
Almost every teen has one of you.
 You have a strong grip
 you squeeze and squeeze
 and it hurts people.
For some,
you never let go.
For many people, you squeeze until they just give up, and it goes black.
You have made me cry myself to sleep.
You made me scare my family
Not only that, but you made me feel alone.
 I wanted to give up.
You follow us everywhere and can show yourself at any time
Occasionally, you are a coward and you hide.
But it's time for you to stop being a coward and come out of hiding
You did this and you need to face it.
Because you are not going to win
my army and I am ready to fight you.
We know your name, and we are ready to fight back.
Today is the last day I let you win.
Goodbye
depression!
