DONT DWELL IN DREAD

DON'T DWELL IN DREAD

As I look for hope in the past
Seems we've changed so fast
Can this pace possibly last
It's a dream our hope is cast

Oh Lord, how the mighty fell
A story we all know so well
Yet our pain continues to yell
And our hope we never tell

Cry tears for the world brand new
Tears for the fallen to name a few
Pray that our dear Lord answers you
And sends angels to see us through

Lord so quickly we turned away
How easily we forget what fathers say
In the darkness we lost our way
And Blinded we whine and never pray

Wars have bled us of our youth
Buildings afire is our truth
A torn and tattered flag is our proof
Freedom hides from the greatest sleuth

I get lost in yesterday's lost faded lure
Shudder for tomorrow,  dreaded and sure
But it's now today, we must find the cure
A righteousness that could make us pure

I hear the past  and tomorrow's fear
Burns with threats fiery and clear
But His people cry that God is near
We must surrender,  and let Him steer

For in truth that's what we lack
The aim of the enemies attack
In the fiery smoke God calls us back
And His people follow His track

Who knows what lies ahead?
Do not live lost in your dread
Stand before the Cross instead
And the Savior who rose from the dead
Amen

About this poem

Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. Matthew 6 3
