Enduring Presence

There is a girl whom I held dear,
Whose absence I cannot help but fear.
Without her, it felt so wrong
every day seemming long
Still I wish that she could be near.

The memories of her linger on
Though she's been gone so long
Her laughter and smile,
Made my days worthwhile,
Now they can't help but drag on.

I try to keep busy each day,
But her absence won't go away
I hope that she knows,
That wherever she goes,
My love for her is here to stay.
