Pain

Every day, I ponder: What is pain's creed?
Here, there, in my soul, its seed.
In my heart, my mind, it takes the lead,
Once simple, now complex, indeed.

Accept it, fight it, what's the way?
To ease its grip, in this life's play.
Is pain the answer to this strife,
Or a shadow cast upon life?

In muscles strained, in joints that groan,
In every ache, its presence shown.
Surviving through its relentless reign,
In this journey, what's there to gain?

Will it ever cease, this constant trial?
Or linger on, mile after mile?
Pain, my constant, my companion true,
In this labyrinth, what can I do?

With each dawn's rise, fatigue's embrace,
Weakness, illness, in every space.
Why does each sunrise bring dismay,
In this search for solace, day by day?

Questioning when, in this weary fight,
Through trials endured, in darkest night.
Bound by shadows, in darkness bound,
Every day, a silent battleground.

Still I dream, of a light so pure,
To guide me through, to endure.
Though dreams may fade, with morning's rise,
In whispers soft, hope never dies.
