Despite the dying of the light

Despite the dying of the light,
We rage onwards,

Despite the dying of the light
Steadfast we march towards the inevitable end.

Despite the dying of the light,
We yearn for bliss to conceal the cruel intentions of this life.
So choose the days that usher forth sunlight and those which summon rain
And the days which bring you to your knees,
Choose the days that leave your heart heavy and fill your eyes like the deepest sea,
For life without these things is life not worth living.

Despite the dying of the light,
Look for the joy that brings sorrow,
And the pain that is all but unbearable.
Seek out the love that leaves you weeping in the night.

Despite the dying of the light
Know that death is inevitable,
And that very inevitability robs death of its significance,

Despite the dying of the light
Smile upon death for death stands at your elbow,
Always a friendly reminder the end is all too near.

About this poem

The poem is about regardless of the fact that we all face the same end we must move forward. And while we move forward we must welcome and embrace everything life throws at us even seek it out . The good and bad is what makes life so beautiful and marching through life smiling even in the face of struggle and death makes life so much more profound.

I like the theme of life needing the bad, hurtful parts of it to be worth living
