The Innocent Prisoner

Brown bear paces, her fur matted with dirt
Her sad sunken eyes reflected in the steel bars
The most innocent of prisoners
Serving a life sentence
Even to be executed would be kinder
Than a life squashed into a rectangular box
One day she will feel her claws on the soft forest floor
If only in her dreams

About this poem

I wrote this poem inspired by my passion for animal rights. Through this poem, I hope to shine a light on the barbaric conditions bears in captivity in confined spaces and cages are subjected to.
