Love Has the Power to Heal

In a world that thrives on hate
I choose to love
For behind every frown
There lies a story
The woman in the supermarket
Who forgot to offer a smile
She is lost in her thoughts
She battles on
As cancer tightens its grip
The child causing a scene at the table His innocence is masked by tantrums
He is confused
His world shatters
As divorce tears his family apart
The man who forgot his manners today
His heart is heavy
He forgot to say "Thank you"
Because 3 hours earlier
He said "Goodbye"
To his loyal companion
Who now rests in eternal sleep
The teenager who bumped into you on the street
She is left unsteady
She hides her tears
She yearns for a hug from her mom
Who is now forever out of reach
Hate may surround us
But love has the power to heal

About this poem

Every person's frown hides a story. The woman at the supermarket battles with cancer, the child throwing a tantrum is struggling with their parents' divorce, the man who forgets his manners is grieving the loss of his beloved pet. The teenager who bumped into you is longing for comfort from her late mother. Hate may be everywhere, but love has the ability to heal.
