Say my name

Shermaine 2005 (Hong Kong)

The old times I rode your back by the seashore
You gave me the sky to soar
Told me I had the seas to sail
And your world was mine to claim
But as soon as I finished the tale
You asked for my name

I saw your confused, clueless face
As tables were filled and settled in
You were staring off into a daze
As if the stars were mounted on another horizon
Your dried up lips reeked of thirst
But you poured the tea in my cup first

Gazing softly, your gesture never kinder
Those eyes, I knew you wanted the reminder
Of the word you once lovingly said
when you called upon me, when I was addressed
This fraction of our time ends in a montage
For you, was it all a simple mirage

Were you lost in history or stranded in a frame
And if I no longer ask for it, will you still say my name
