Becoming

After wondering in the shadows, in deep valleys and distant hills.

She was left to fight.

Fight battles that were not her own, but were placed so forcefully and silently that no one ever knew.

As she grew she learned that not all that what you see is as it is.

Family secrets buried in the gardens of their minds.

She was a child.

A child stuck and not with her own choosing. A child with so much light.

A child left in the dark.

She was a people pleaser, she was everything they needed.

Silent.

As she grew she realized her light had been dimmed, pushed and buried. Buried by the family who was supposed to protect her.

Her childhood was buried so deeply in the minds of those, she lost sight of her own childhood too.

She was, but she isn't buried anymore.
Family secrets, are no longer family secrets.

And they don't even know she remembers.
