Ascent To Greatness

In our ascent to greatness
We propel ourselves like rocket ships
Towards heaven and stars
Creating and destroying along the way
As if we were gods.
Intellect has surpassed
Our spiritual humanity
And to speak of the one
Who made us
Is profanity
Such arrogance and superiority
It blinds us  
To our own ignorance
And vainglory
Now look at what we’ve done
What we’ve become
Eyes filled with pride
Speaking with silver tongues
Surly greater  
Than the creator
We are the light of the world
Idolizing our pitiful selves
As the truth in his word unfurls
In our ascent to greatness
