It Could Help But Is Selfish

Gone today.
Because the waves were leaving.
The sound of my footsteps pressed in sand.

A pink sky.

I can’t see my body.
Not a dream or nightmare.
I can’t think to yell out,
“How much farther away will you be?”

As the echoes ripple,
There’s nothing to hold onto.
A sky with no sound.
With water darker than night.

Pulling away from this fear,
Letting my arms break free.
I’m now in a maze with no corners,
Lost with no borders.

Gone today,
My quiet voice.
I could stay here forever, I feel everything.

Floating. The water swaying with the wind.

About this poem

This poem represents my current circumstance. My problems with bad habits have been extended since childhood and I’ve never fully healed from them. This poem is a cathartic moment for me. I wanted to write what I couldn’t verbalize.

I’ve been writing since high school. I’ve had more tidbits of emotional poems than I should have! I love to write as a release, it’s definitely therapeutic. more…
