Red V3lv3t

Red Velvet
By: Miriam Bishop Sylla

I am a woman
A black woman
I can relate to any other woman
Color or creed
Ive been around angels and serpent seeds
Still a woman
Her heart has been broken before
And no
It ain't always about a Man
It was relatives she called family
Enemies she labeled friends
Whoever
Whenever
Anytime
Anyplace
She's been raped
She's been molested and stood alone at the courthouse
Legs spread
Not for her lover but for the abortion table instead
After giving birth
She found God in the eyes of her stillborn child

A mother
Libations at the alter
Now lamenting and kneeling at the grave
Her child never came home

A woman
At night
Under a street light
Unclaimed
Unknown
Forgotten
Unforgiven
Sitting and waiting
Been waiting
Since youth to skeleton bones

Back strong
Crown on
Hips broad
No ass
Marger body
Top heavy
Hour glass body
Every woman
Hair free
Hair laid
Soul destroyed like the World Trade
Eyes that can pierce your soul
Reveal to you all the stories you never told

Lunar eclipse
Celestial
Blue moon
Mystical Woman
Her stars are aligned you can see the future in her eyes
And still admire and appreciate her round backside
Diva
Witch
Bonnie to her Clyde
Mother
Whore
Daughter
Sister
Friend and companion

Women with powers
Create and Transform
We break walls
Our walls been torn down
Whether you are a wife
Girlfriend
The tramp of a husband gone astray
You're suckin dick anyway; WOMAN!

African percussion
Reggaetone
Hip hop
Poetic
Jazz blue woman
There is liberation, conviction and contradictions to being a woman
Whore turn housewife
Wife turn whore
Rags to riches
Riches turned rags
The ideal daughter has a dark side
Within every woman
There is a naive eve
Or Lilith the seductress
Aries to Pisces
From the straightest, Gayest, and Androgynous
From the whitest to the mixed chicks
She's still
We're still
You're still a woman
