I remember

Sheawna 1984 (United States)

I remember I was only 17, my world was upside down.
There you were, i was found.
I had no idea, No one to lead the way.
Then there was you, That October day.

A little girl they said, I was 22.
Soon she’d be here, But would you?
We’ve always had our ups and downs.
But you were always more than the reason
for my frowns.

By 2012 we were great!
Oops now my period is late.
Another little girl, So three became four.
We were a family…But you needed more.

Big sis is now nine, Little one is almost five.
Things could have been different but we didn’t survive.
I had to leave, I had to say no more.
So i made a choice to walk out the door.

Here we are now, the year 2022.
Six years have passed, that I’ve lived without you.
Now they said you’re gone but I can’t wrap my head.
There’s just no way, No way that you’re dead.

Two years have now gone, the girls are doing alright.
It’s hard to think about you, sometimes it keeps me up at night.
I remember how I was only 17
I remember it all
I remember you.
