Grandma, When You Go
Grandma, when you go to heaven
Please give a friendly wave
To Poppy Jo and Jessica
And even grandpa Sam
Grandma, when you go to heaven
I will cry for days
Won’t leave my bed
I’ll drown in dread
And hope you’re coming back
Grandma, when you go to heaven
Please don’t leave my side
Be there for me
And stay with me
And walk me down the aisle
Grandma, when you go to heaven
Don’t let me go too
I may try many times
But tell Him not to let me go
Grandma, when you go to heaven
I won’t be the same
When I cry late at night
Be there to hold my hand
Grandma, when you go to heaven
I’ll learn your recipes
I’ll whisk and stir until it’s perfect
Especially your pancakes
Grandma, when you go to heaven
Please don’t be ashamed
Sure I’m sad that you have left
But it’s not your fault you did
Grandma, when you go to heaven
Please save me a seat
Next to you or on your lap
Or even at your feet
Grandma, when you go to heaven
I’ll remember your perfume
The smell of your house
Your lipstick stains
You pressed against my cheek
Grandma, when you go to heaven
I’ll always wear many rings
Every one in my collection
Just like you always did
Grandma, when you go to heaven
I’ll always remember you
Making applesauce in the fall
And everything we did
Grandma, when you go to heaven
I’ll sing for you one last time
Because I know you love to hear my voice
You’d ask me every day
I’ll rest upon your headstone
Singing Somewhere Over The Rainbow
Because that’s where you’ll be, Grandma
I’ll say I love you but you know
Grandma, when I go to heaven
I’ll stand by your side
We’ll welcome my children
My cousins
My siblings
And we’ll live happily
