Serendiptiy

Shaima Khalil 2001 (brooklyn)

                                    Serendipity
Are you lost?
Always thinking about the frost.
The frozen parts of your life.
Letting it impale you with a sharp knife.
Let’s take a second,
And not reckon.
The serendipity,
In tranquility.
The lord’s creation,
And his beautiful deviation.
Cats, fish, and lizards,
Or the rain, sun, and blizzards.
All these beautiful natural formations;
These majestically sensations.
What could a person ask for better,
This world isn'nt lasting forever.
Take in a breath,
Not nearly to death.
 Look at things positively,
And look around inquisitively.
Look closely,
And precisely!!
The surrounding is a gift from God,
And it all depends on the way you respond.
All from the lord,
Mother Earth and the universe, for us it is poured.
The serendipity,
In tranquility.

About this poem

With this poetry, I aimed to depict people as they truly are. Like flames, we never cease to consume and yet never find contentment. We often view life negatively, give up on things we don't need because of the bumps we face through, consume more than we need, and crave more than we need. I composed this because I want us to live, to find faith in the small things in life that are significant to us, to be grateful for what God has given us, and to simultaneously appreciate God's creation and be fulfilled and content.

Shaima Khalil

I spent a lot of time both indoors and outdoors with my family growing up in a city. I still have a cat and live in a city nowadays. I enjoy creating poems because they allow words to express and enable emotions to pour. more…
