Love to HATE you?!

   Hate to LOVE you?!

    1. I find it easy to block you out of my head,

But out of my heart? It's a lost cause.

Months pass without thinking of you for even a minute,

Yet one glimpse of your face and my world crumbles.

Today, I heard you call my name as I rushed into class,

But was it adrenaline or just a trick of the mind?

    2. Have you ever seen your world flash before your eyes?

Shaken to the core by his disappearances and sudden appearances.

Nights spent with him lying next to you, with her name embedded in his heart.

Makes you wonder what lies beyond those smoke mirrors clouded with his lies.

    His serpent-like words. Guess not.

    3. Not saying we had it perfect,

    It wasn't.

    But it was real,

    It was us.

    4. I don't think I could ever misjudge anyone like I did you.

My naivety hangs like the noose you tied around my neck.

On the balcony, my reflection is barely visible, almost unreal.

As vague as the memory you made me yours, rocking on my hope like a kid on a seesaw.

    5. Stacked up, I'm the joker and you are the king.

I wish my heart was glass.

    I guess it is.

I find it easy to say "I hate you" when I mean to say, "I hate to love you?!"

I finally thought I'd seen it all.

About this poem

This is about the push and pull dynamic of letting a relationship go. Those moments were we find ourselves vulnerable.
