Silent Sorrow

This ghost of a moon
dancing between indigo clouds
no more the smile
of an old friend

time has withered my sight
blurred treetops
bubble like foam
I'm better off alone in this forest.

Still the owl can be heard
crystal clarity condensed
a familiar sound
a rustle through trees

and there it is
the pacing of my heartbeat
no less a sound
than the echo of a supernova.
