Maybe in Another Life I'll be Different

Dear younger me, I wish I could apologize.
I know how you saw the world through your eyes.
I feel you would be so disappointed in me,
I tried to become what you wanted us to be.

I tried to be different from them.
I guess you just can’t sow a different hem.
I truly hope you that you do see
That I wanted this apple to fall far from our tree.

My actions and my words, both set in stone.
I guess I was so scared I’d be alone.
I found outlets, but never the right one.
I guess everything has been said and done.

I can’t go back in time, I can’t fix my mistakes.
I just hope that in another life, we don't end up with these traits.
You were too kind for this world.
Even though they all saw you as a girl.

You wanted to be different, and I really did try.
I wanted that too, even if i had to die.
We’ve begged to be happy with tears in our eyes.
I promise I put in the effort, even through all the lies.

I swear in the next life I’ll do better,
No matter how much it may be messier.
You deserve your happy ending, younger me.
I wish I could’ve been what we wanted to be.
Maybe in another life I’ll be different.
