Homeless People

Ronald Bunch 1982 (Grand Rapids)

The smiling people in dumpsters
With debris of
Many clusters,

And homeless people
Thinking about
Their next big dive and every second alive,

They were grinning
And eating
A maggot-sandwich.

Even a homeless lady
Can be caught smiling,
And her eyes were sparkling.

It can make them
Very happy to receive and believe,
A smart phone, pre-paid.

The homeless never
Have to even pay a cent.
A rich man pays for it, ever.

Now with the internet
On their laps, they
Can apply on a resume.

And you know if an approved
Homeless person found
A lost bottle of booze,

He would be smiling, ooze,
And even more so…
If they land a job.

A loner of a man, a slob
Sitting on some steps
Did weight lifting reps.

An attitude that says I can,
And with faith will go far,
Even in the heat with no fan.

If you find them in a bar,
Or eating trash smiling,
Just give them a ride in your car.
