Where The Ocean Meets The Sky

I wrote a thousand poems to you
Rolled them up, tucked them safe in glass
I carried them to the sea at sunrise
And waited for low tide to pass

I asked the sea to carry you gently
To where the ocean meets the sky
So that every night when I visit here
Looking ahead won’t feel like goodbye

In hues of pinks and purples
My bottles absorbed the dusk
As I neatly and tenderly I parted with each
And said farewell to love and trust

I tossed each bottle and watched the sea,
Shimmering tides under a starry sky,
My thoughts of you floated away from me
In glass vessels of fragile dreams

I broke a piece again that I can not mend
And I think I know that this time’s goodbye
But I’ll keep us safe underneath these stars
Where the ocean meets the sky

About this poem

I wrote this poem last year, under a pen name- Bella Hayward. I’m reposting it here since I deleted that account. It’s written for someone who will always mean a lot to me.
