I am the Nature

I am the Nature

Shahin Shabanian

I am the nature
And you came from me
Whether you think you’re made of dust
Or raised out of the sea,
I created you to be.

I provided you with sustenance and food
Nurtured with mother’s milk, from childhood
I gave you rivers and rain;
Sun and seasons, I gave you brain
For a good stewardship of my domain,
I am the nature.

Birds and beasts, I created to enhance life
Exploited and extinct, for human disrespect is rife
You destroy my forests, poison my lands,
Plastic in oceans never ends
My soul is pillaged by torture,
I am the nature.

In earliest part of your journey
When with me, you were in harmony,
I gave you fossil fuels
To warm yourselves, using simple tools
Now, you are killing the iced-poles and winter too
Heat from hell will descend on you.

You pollute the clean air
For environment, you don’t care
You burn my trees, with oxygen they bear
Placing noose around your necks, such despair
Whereas food from my bosom, you declare
Is mine and mine and I do not share.

Rich and poor, I did not create
Greed for profit made it to generate
Obsessing with political and economic power;
Forcing others to submit and to cower;
Destroying people and habitat with warfare,
These are violation of my rules, be aware.

Do you not hear my roar?
Sounded through my entire core
It is a sound of my pain
To warn you of my complain
Your lust for wealth, by destroying nature,
Will seal the life with permanent departure.

I am the nature;
I am your eternal mother
I gave you love and affection
Show love and respect for my creation
Stop violating your mother nature.
