Beauty

Robert loughran 1962 (Ireland)

She was  like the sun on a cloudy day, emerging through clouds ,
as they shied away .

A rose in a weed bed ,
resplendent yet alone.
A joy to behold,
yet somehow forlorn .

That we are all slowly disapearing,
even as we speak.
Nothing can hold,
nothing can keep.
Even beautys  great vision,
even beautys warm grace.
Must fall away from us,
must lose its place.

The greatest monuments,
The greatest minds ,
must crumble beneath the weight of time,
Every moment must exclaims itself ,then resign.
That nothing can be possessed,
all thats living must die.

We can only flow in the
river of life.
There is no solid ground.
All clinging ,mad desparation
No refuge to be found.
