Hugs

Robert loughran 1962 (Ireland)

Some adults today like to say

they were not enough time cuddled.

Well fair enough, that can be rough,

but let's not gets things befuddled.

Did she wake you each day in time for school?

Did her fingers tie your laces?

Did she comb your hair, was she always there?

Not away in exotic places.

Did you most always eat, though that was quite a feat,

On very limited resources.

Were you welcomed in, when you caused a din, at 3 in the morning.

Did you feel the love when she straightened your tie?

When she wiped your nose, cleaned sleep from your eye.

When she ran upstairs for the hundredth time to fetch for you your glasses.

100000 cuddles hidden in a sea of necessities,

By a parent with 100 jobs and 5 different places to be.
