Survival

I take a breath
And inhale the sea
All of my thoughts are drowning me
I want to leave, ready to run
But obligations lock my knees
I feel it all yet feel so numb
Fighting daily to not succumb
Tears stream and burn my face
But vulnerability feels like disgrace
Must keep strong and ignore the pain
Steady the mask to survive it all again
I wonder if you know how it hurts me so
You say you care but do you though?
All you see now is my stoic face
But I am breaking behind the surface
Trust is failing and I feel so lost
All I can do is sleep away the exhaust
Feeling the days pass and go
But I don't live through them anymore
