What My Life Could Be

Ryan Lee Nanez 1986 (Amarillo, Texas)

I sit and think about how my life could be,
as long as I don't put another drug in me.
I know that today I'm someone that I want to be,
and that drugs no longer have me down on one knee.
I'm a better person that all who know me love to see,
because without drugs in my life I know that I can be free.
I know that in my addiction I wasn't the person I knew I could be,
always feeling like I was alone and lost in a forever never ending sea.

About this poem
