The Art of Courage
It was once said that hell is described as: “The day after the last day of your last breath, you stand face to face with the disappointment of the person that you should have been.”
Imagine having to recap your life’s story and re-visit all of the times that you let the best of you go because of your fears.
It is in our struggles, our adversities, our challenges, and our fears that mold our identity, and what we do in these times define who we will become.
It is not the mistakes in our life that are important, it is what we do with those mistakes that determine our character.
Courage does not exist with the absence of fear, it is the ability to overcome fear, master the bravery and faith to disregard the fall, and become the best of ourselves.
It is far better to stand up and risk your place in life for what is right, than to keep your comforts and live with the shame of a weak and wimpish spirit.
Do I cower like sheep at the sight of what is before me, or standing over me on the bully pulpit swinging a big stick and shouting with such vigor?
Or do I sound out what is right, even if my voice trembles?
We hope for our children to be proud and strong.
To let nobody bully their spirit.
We wish for them their dreams and to hold their journey true and take courage to see them through.
Make no mistake, they will be just like you.
None of your words can hold true, as a mother or father, if your actions do not speak the same.
It is your actions that will mold their character.
Be the teacher they need you to be.
Be brave and stand fast for what is right.
