Deluded

Robert loughran 1962 (Ireland)

I thought myself  kind,
yet allowed bitter seed to grow.
I thought myself brave,
till i heard the tiger roar.
I thought myself committed,
till temptation showed its face.
I thought myself self driven,
found myself lost without a plan.
I thought myself wise,
yet got duped by fools.
I thought myself free,
yet am constricted by the rules.
I thought myself irrelevant,
yet my children show the opposite.
I thought myself unworthy ,
yet found the love of a great woman.
I thought myself beaten
but have risen time again.
There's thinking and there's knowing,
and knowing is not made of thought.
And wisdoms role primarily,
is wheat from chaff to sort.
