Night Returns
Night Returns
Night returns and shadows rule once more
The Moon and stars are remote
As the Sun retreats its light
Into a black world far away
My eyes search for sleep
It is elusive, unable to lie still
The cold creeps in here
Where my emotions shiver
Worry blankets me
And my pillow becomes decorated
With trails of sorrow
My heart overflows without end.
The restless soul aches in pain tonight
Beauty, virility and strength
Depart for brighter shores
Age robs youth leaving poverty
So slow, insidious and subtle
Taking treasures of memory
Into a whiter shade of pale
I watch the disintegration
Mother of magic love
Unable to cast spells to save
Her decline into darkness
For a departure into dreams.
