Never Homeless

Steve Cochrane 1955 (Cape)

I never have been homeless nor
Real close to being so,
But I have been so very poor
That poverty I know.

It never was a friend to me
And yet I knew it well.
It lived next door to bankruptcy
With stories sad to tell!

It took me years to get away
From being poor like that,
But I remember to this day
Seek help when life falls flat!
