KNOWING

mad hippie poet 1974 (new jersey)

I saw everything, yet I saw nothing, wanting anything that was not meant for me. I opened and closed my eyes a million times, knowing and not knowing what it would be that I would see. Hearing the words, are you afraid of the dark or the light? Do you give up, or do you fight yet inside the walls of my mind? I know it is time for a new king and song to sing.

I open my eyes with knowing and unwillingness, knowing that the life I lived in my past curved the path that I walk in the present with the wind against my back, not looking over my shoulder at a distant land embracing the simple man I have become.

I want to tell you that there is a time for knowing with every day I'm growing, letting go of the memories that never served me, and not playing blind to things. To the things that I care not to see, I'm awake while rolling into the light of the night, for tomorrow is never promised, so will you dance with me as I sing this song to move to with the flowers that make us smile
