Unconditionally.

A J C 1958 (Swansea, MA)

Unconditionally

Childhood living is so easy to do. But now that I'm older, I don't have a clue. I watched you suffer a dull, aching pain. Now you've decided to show me the same. My faith has been broken. Tears must be cried. Let's do some living before we die. I look into your eyes, and I see the face of another guy. So I look up to the sky for an answer. But I can't see anything, just the clouds that float by. I cannot see the light. So I hold on tight, but that doesn't make it right. I do not want to get into another fight. I will always hold on tight to the love we once had. That's all I have left; it makes me sad.

About this poem

You have to wonder if there's ever that kind of love. I don't think there's any such word.
