Dreams and reality

Terry Teza 1966 (Yangon)

When I was young,
I often dreamed,
To be an astronaut
To be a private detective
To be a billionaire.

As time goes by,
Only dreams changed,
Yet, I didn't changed.

Like a child chasing a rainbow,
I chased my dreams
till three decades has gone.
Yet, dreams didn't become reality.

Buddha said
'The reality
can only be found
within this body and mind'.
Yet, I had been seeking the reality
outside instead of inside of
this mind and body.

Buddha said
'A person who lives only a single day but see the 'arising-passing away' of body and mind
is better than
a person who lives one hundred years but did not see
the 'arising-passing away'
of body and mind.

One day,
I decided to join
a mindfulness retreat,
To see the reality.
Since then,
Even if I don't live a century,
No more 'regret' in my vocabulary.

Now,
My only dream is
to be dreamless.
