Sanctitude Living
Richard Newton Sherrer 1951 (Easton)
By you putting away falsehood,
Let each one of you speak the truth;
That each of you has understood,
As your neighbor has been since their youth.
You can be mad but do not sin,
Anger, not past the setting sun;
That peaceful slumber would begin,
Calming tensions that had begun.
Neither give place for the devil,
Letting the thief no longer steal;
Stop and labor not his evil,
Avoid any wicked ordeal.
Let not any corrupted talk,
Exit out from your tongue and lips;
Edify for others to walk,
Words that promote fellowships.
Minister grace to those who hear,
But the Holy Spirit grieves not;
Be glad that Judgment Day is near,
And for the redemption is sought.
Throw out all bitterness and wrath,
Anger, and clamor, and slander;
All malice that passes your path,
Or scoffing from a bystander.
So be kind to one another,
Tenderhearted and forgiving;
Treat them as sister and brother,
As God in Christ has you living.
