Year 11

Jess fulbrook 2008 (Guildford)

I guess it's finally the last chapter.
The last few turns of the pages.
The last few memorable sentences.
The last important details of the story.

They always said this would go quickly,
But we never believed them.
It's like were trapped in the moment,
We never realized how quickly time would dissipate.

It's like a doubtful opportunity,
You don't know what will happen.
It could be your biggest eye opener,
Or your biggest downfall.

Each day might feel like a roller coaster,
Starts off basic and boring,
And had unexpected turns.
But it was always exhilarating.

This year is like a book.
It's the same feeling
As you read the last words.
And the connection between you and the story.

About this poem

I wrote this poem to show the reality of year 11 and how it feels knowing your leaving soon. I want the reader to either have the feeling of nostalgia or that the poem is relatable and maybe that it would also prepare younger people for the feeling.
