Damage Done

Debbie L Mize 1964 (chicago)

Scars so deep they do not heal
The pain they caused is so real.
My innocence you did take
A selfish act or bad mistake
My fear of all is what's left of me
Afraid to let those around me see
Though you knew it was not right
You stole my trust, my will to fight
But please know without a doubt
Love is not what this was about.
For all I did was trust in you.
So unaware of what you'd do.
I wonder if you'll ever see
That there was so much more to me.
So for just a single night of fun.
You'll never know the damage done.
