Burnt out together

Abasiekeme 2005 (Port Harcourt)

I met you, sad, alone, weak, broken
I was your sunshine, you said
"Take my hand," I remember offering
We set off on a journey, a journey of healing, love, and growth
I was determined to stay, to help
You were too broken, too lost,
but I stayed
Days to weeks to years, my life force burned out, but I stayed
You were too broken, but I stayed
My smile faded, my light dimmed, but I stayed
Soon, I was fully exhausted, but I stayed
You were too broken, but I fixed you
Too bad I couldn't see you glow, too bad I didn't see your glory
You glowed, but alas not for long
You tried to save me, but it was too late, I was done
You couldn't stay, so you burned out quick
Now, here we are, beside each other, in peace, no need for battles and losses
You were too broken, but I stayed
Now we are burnt out together
