LOve showed up in work clothes

Love showed up in work clothes

There are songs about cowboys and songs about love
songs about heaven and the good Lord above
There are songs about children and songs of mom and dad
Some made me happy and others left me sad

This one's about a good friend of mine, pleasures of life he didnt have time
There are folk with needs ,he'd say kind of low
And he'd brush off his work clothes and off he would go

A man down the road, the father of five, was put out of work when they shut down the mine
As he sat 'round the table with his kids at night,he showed a big smile but his chest was all tight
Then, love showed up in work clothes, love showed up in work clothes
A truck backed to his door with groceries and more, love showed up in work clothes

My good friend was the kind of a man who would show up first when you needed a hand
Near the end of the day and the crowds kind of bare, most had gone home but he was still there
Love showed up in work clothes, love showed up in work clothes
Most would'nt dare and many just dont care, but love showed up in work clothes

I've heard these words from the pulpit and pew,If you ever need help I'll be there for you
The day finally came when I needed a hand, why you'd thought a plague had entered the land
Then, love showed up in work clothes, love showed up in work clothes
Many never see the need, thats why the Lord choose you and me, love showed up in work clothes

You've seen him in the cities and in the county towns
You've seen him at the old folks home and on the kids playground
This story has no ending ,as you can plainly see
Folks with needs are still out there
just hoping for you or me
just looking for you and me
Just praying for you and me

chorus
Love showed up in work clothes
Love showed up in work clothes
Some had errands to run, others just didnt come
but, love showed up in work clothes

Some work clothes
Nurses uniform---Military Uniform----policemans uniform--firemans uniform--a mothers dress--
and maybe a person in a three piece suit-or a man in jeans, with a hole in the knee, paint
on the sleeve or a faded out "T"-
And whatever "you" wear for work-
